ANNOUNCEMENT - Replacement Discs for The Avengers DVD Set 1
Replacements for faulty discs from The
Complete Series 2 and Existing Episodes from Series 1, have been
manufactured and are now ready. We thank you for your patience while
we have investigated and corrected the problems.
Please send your old discs (numbers 3, 6 and 7), together with your
name and full address to:

Replacement Discs for The Avengers DVD Set 1
Jaz Wiseman has made the following announcement regarding
the replacement programme for the faulty discs in the Series 1+2
set: "I am expecting check discs of the replacement discs next week.
Once these are confirmed as being OK, the replacement discs will be
manufactured. Obviously this process is going to be held up with the
Christmas and New Year break so in early January Optimum will make
the final announcement. Apologies to all customers but the
replacement disc process has taken longer than anticipated."

Unfortunately,
the Variety Club Awards segment previously announced will now not be
appearing on the set, due to clearances that had been granted being
unexpectedly withdrawn.

Official Announcement from Optimum re. Series 1+2 DVD Set
"We have been informed that on the above release, two
episodes, Conspiracy of Silence and The Golden Eggs, have been cut
and one episode, Propellant 23, has an encoding error.
We make
every effort to ensure that our products are released uncut and that
all masters are encoded to the highest possible standards.
Noting
these faults, we have decided to repress the discs that contain the
three episodes and will shortly be making an announcement of where
to send in your old discs so that they can be replaced with new,
corrected discs. The new discs will be available at the end of
November 2009.
We know The
Avengers fan base is very important and we thank you for your
patience while we investigated and corrected these faults."
Kudos to
Optimum for going to the trouble and expense of repressing these
discs. We will bring full details of the exchange programme as soon
as we have the official word.

Optimum Series 1+2 DVD Set - May Contain Traces of Cock-Up
Unfortunately, it's come to our attention that there are a
few serious issues with the Optimum DVD set released on October 5th.
Initially, a problem was raised that the first disc would not play
on some DVD players and computer drives and subsequently it has been
discovered that two episodes, Conspiracy of Silence and
The Golden Eggs, are cut or at least not how they should be. The
former is missing about ten seconds of footage and the latter has
had a one-minute section from the beginning of the episode shifted
to later in the episode. There is also an encoding error during
Propellant 23. We are awaiting news from Optimum concerning
these issues and how they may be remedied.
Apologies for
not reporting the news earlier, but I've been spending nearly every
minute of my spare time working on a couple of extra features for
the forthcoming Series 3 set.

Exclusive Interview with Screen Captures and Telesnaps!
Our thanks to Jaz Wiseman, content producer for Optimum
Releasing's The Avengers range, for kindly agreeing to be
interviewed for The Avengers Declassified. In this first interview
Jaz has given about the range, he talks about the forthcoming The
Complete Series 2 release, which also contains the surviving
materials from the first series. Jaz also touches upon what he plans
for subsequent volumes and has given this site the first look at
screen captures from episodes and the first publication of examples
of Leonard White's telesnaps, which have been uncovered in the
making of this DVD set.

Series 2 UK DVD Set Announced + Extra Features!
It seems like a very long time since The Avengers
was last available to buy in the United Kingdom, but soon the wait
will be over! It promises to be a release well worth the wait, quite
simply packed with high quality extra features. The contents of the
first set, covering what survives of Series One along with the
Complete Series Two have been revealed today by Optimum Releasing,
who are the company to issue to series. Details of the extra
